Nala is a proud palawa woman who has dedicated a lifetime to enhancing the rights, culture, and betterment of Aboriginal people in lutruwita/Tasmania.
Nala was elected by the Tasmanian Aboriginal community as the chief political spokesperson for the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre two years running and has taken on the role of youth worker, cultural promotion worker and more recently Campaign Manager throughout her 17 years of employment at the TAC.
Nala has completed studies in Aboriginal Primary Health Care, Conversation & Land Management specialising in Aboriginal Heritage and is currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Social Work with honours with the University of Tasmania.
Nala has represented her community through various local, national and international leadership programs & forums and describes some of her main highlights as being selected to attend a six week United Nations Indigenous Fellowship program in Geneva, Switzerland, having the honour of being immersed in Maori culture during her visit to Aotearoa/New Zealand as an international keynote speaker and characterising the main character Little J in the palawa kani episodes of the cartoon Little Jay and Big Cuz.
Nala has been at the forefront of many Aboriginal community campaigns, rallies & street marches and can often be heard speaking at various events on Aboriginal rights, self-determination, and Aboriginal heritage protection.
